“Ours is not the task of fixing the entire world at once, but of stretching out to mend the part of the world that is within our reach.”

Speaking Engagements

My presentation approach

My approach with speaking engagements is very similar to my approach with psychotherapy: I build ideas from a holistic understanding of my audience, incorporating faith, culture, neuroscience, family systems, and life stage perspectives as we dive deeper into mental health concepts together. I engage the audience with a dynamic style that blends lecture, self-reflection, and group discussion. I enjoy speaking to topics that are aligned with my specialty areas and I’m open to considering new topic areas that best match the needs of your church, ministry, or organization.

While the majority of my speaking experience are with churches and faith-based organizations, I welcome opportunities with groups of all backgrounds. By preparing with you in advance, I seek to tailor my presentations to the unique faith and cultural identity of your group, specific mental health concerns experienced by the community or organization, and the general theme or objectives of your larger event.

It just takes a few courageous people who step up and say, “We need to talk about this in the open. We each have a responsibility to do better—to love better.” This is the first step to cultivating communities that break the stigma surrounding mental health and embody the compassionate, co-suffering, and healing love of Christ. I look forward to working towards this goal with your parish or organization.

This plenary explores grief, loss, and death from the perspective of Asian American culture, Orthodox Christianity, neuroscience, and psychotherapy. It was presented to a diverse global audience of ministry leaders, pastors, academics, and professionals.

This episode with Dr. David C. Chao, Director of Princeton Theological Seminary’s Center for Asian American Christianity, on the podcast “Dialogues in Asian American Theology and Ministry,” is a continuation on the previous topic of death and grief. This discussion guides listeners in understanding how stigma and shame can negatively impact healthy processing of grief and what parish leaders can consider in mitigating these effects within their parish communities.
